ZMI supports the Afrika Rise Project

Reutlingen/Elfershausen, 31.07.2023 – ZMI GmbH, provider of HR software, is supporting the Afrika Rise Project and making a donation of €3,000 for the construction of a vocational education center for climate protection and sustainable development in Uganda. John Lwanga, founder and chairman of the Afrika Rise e.V. association and singer of the reggae, hip-hop and salsa combo “Culcha Candela”, accepted the donation from Jonathan Martin and Daniel Vogler, CEOs of ZMI GmbH, following a concert by the band in Reutlingen.

“Afrika Rise’s initiative to establish a vocational education center for climate protection and sustainability makes an important contribution to the training of specialized professionals and the reforestation of renewable resources in Uganda. The key resource for combating climate change is a global network of knowledge and skills,” say Daniel Vogler and Jonathan Martin. John Lwanga adds: “There will be as much new construction in Africa in the next 10 years as in Europe in the past 100 years. How this growth actually takes shape will have a decisive impact on climate protection and the future.”

The first of the three construction phases of the education center is scheduled to begin as early as September 2023 to enable school to start on the new campus in January 2024. In the two subsequent phases, the college’s trainees are actively involved in the construction work in order to learn methods of ecological construction using practical examples. In the course of this, a platform is also to be created to network ecologically oriented companies in Uganda and Germany, to promote their growth and to enable new perspectives for a sustainable future on an equal footing with all those involved.

About Afrika Rise e.V.
The aid organization was founded in 2008 by Culcha Candela singer John Lwanga. Over the last 15 years, a comprehensively networked vocational school for craft training has already been established in Uganda: The Buwere Vocational College. Trades such as tailor, mechanic, mason, plumber and electrician can be learned here. In this way, the initiative promotes economic prospects for the rural population and helps young people in rural areas to build a better future for themselves. Unternehmen und Privatpersonen, die das Projekt ebenfalls finanziell unterstützen möchten, haben unter www.green-college.org die Möglichkeit dazu.
