What is the electronic certificate of incapacity for work (eAU)?
Since January 1, 2023, the eAU has replaced the previous paper certificate for people with statutory health insurance. It is transmitted digitally by the treating doctor to the health insurance fund, from where the employer can retrieve it.
How does the retrieval of the eAU with ZMI - eAU work?
Once the employee has reported sick, the eAU request is sent to the GKV server via certified communication software. The confirmation is then displayed in ZMI – eAU.
