Challenges
In manufacturing companies, complex shift models, different qualifications and high demands on transparency and efficiency come together. Employees work in multiple shifts, orders must be completed on time and personnel resources must be deployed optimally. At the same time, the requirements for documentation, collective bargaining regulations and safety in production areas are increasing. Without digital support, manual efforts, media disruptions and a lack of overview of personnel times and order progress quickly arise.
The right solution for manufacturing companies
Time tracking with terminals, app & web
With stationary time recording terminals directly in production, in the warehouse or in administration, employees record their working times reliably and to the second. Employee self-service and the ZMI app are also available – for managers, administration or mobile areas.
Order time recording for more transparency
Working times can be booked directly to orders or activities. This creates a clear allocation of personnel costs to production orders. Production management and controlling receive a transparent basis for post-calculation, profitability analyses and resource planning – without additional data entry effort.
ZMI - Planner: Digital shift and resource planning
Early, late and night shifts can be planned efficiently with the ZMI – Planner. The system supports flexible shift models and recognizes over- or understaffing at an early stage. Qualifications can be taken into account during planning so that every shift is optimally staffed.
Flexible mapping of tariff regulations
ZMI is highly configurable and reliably maps individual collective agreements, company agreements and bonus regulations. Night, weekend and overtime bonuses are calculated automatically and transferred correctly to payroll accounting.
Access control for production areas
Production halls, storage areas or sensitive technical rooms can be specifically secured with the integrated access control. Access rights can be assigned based on roles or time. This ensures that only authorized employees have access to certain areas – transparently, traceably and securely.
Payroll interfaces & reporting
The recorded times are automatically transferred to common payroll systems such as DATEV, Sage, HS – Hamburger Software, Lexware, VOCUS or SAP. Comprehensive evaluations provide insights into staff hours, shift distribution and order times – ideal for HR, production management and controlling.
Why ZMI is a particularly good fit for manufacturing companies:
Production and manufacturing companies place special demands on organization, personnel and safety. Multi-shift operation, order-related work and collective bargaining regulations require solutions that realistically map and reliably support processes. ZMI combines time tracking, order confirmation and access control in one system and ensures maximum transparency and relief in production and administration.
- Time tracking and order time recording in one system: working times can be booked directly to orders and evaluated centrally. This creates transparency regarding personnel costs, efficiency and shift distribution - without additional recording processes.
- Flexible shift models and collective agreements: Early, late and night shifts as well as individual surcharge and pay scale regulations are reliably mapped and automatically taken into account.
- Electronic access control for production areas: Access rights can be assigned based on roles and time. Sensitive halls, warehouses or technical rooms remain protected - without traditional key management.
- Transparent reports for HR, production and controlling: Comprehensive evaluations provide clear insights into staff hours, shift utilization and order times - as a reliable basis for management and planning decisions.

Frequently asked questions
Answers to your most important questions
Is ZMI suitable for multi-shift operations?
Yes. ZMI digitizes your shift planning in production and automatically maps complex shift models and collectively agreed bonuses. The software enables structured planning of early, late and night shifts. In combination with ZMI – Planner staff scheduling, overstaffing and understaffing are identified at an early stage, while at the same time ensuring that employees are deployed according to their skills.
Can working hours be booked directly to orders?
Yes. With ZMI – Auftrag order time recording, working times are assigned directly to an order or activity – for maximum transparency and post-calculation. Employees record their times in real time at the terminal, via the web interface on the PC or mobile via app. Set-up times, production times, downtimes or rework can be booked in a differentiated manner and evaluated according to cause. This gives you a precise overview of production times, productivity and order costs.
How flexibly does ZMI map individual wage regulations and company agreements?
ZMI is designed to map complex collective agreements, bonus models and company agreements precisely and automatically. Different collective agreements, shift supplements, overtime regulations, industry surcharges or special agreements can be configured for specific locations or employee groups. The rule-based logic automatically calculates bonuses, overtime, night work, work on Sundays and public holidays. This reduces manual checking efforts, minimizes payroll errors and increases legal certainty in time management.
How does ZMI integrate into existing production IT landscapes (PPS/ERP/MES)?
ZMI can be seamlessly integrated into existing PPS, MES and ERP systems and supplements your production IT with powerful workforce management. Master and transaction data such as personnel master data, cost centers, order data or booking information are automatically exchanged via standardized interfaces (e.g. REST API or file interfaces). Over 40 existing interfaces and integrations enable a continuous process chain from time tracking in production and staff scheduling to payroll accounting or cost center assignment.
How do HR and controlling benefit from ZMI?
ZMI automates processes in time management, absence management and approval workflows. Self-services for employees reduce queries, while HR benefits from a prepared, error-free payroll basis. This saves time, reduces error rates and creates transparency across all locations. Comprehensive reports also provide a reliable basis for payroll accounting, cost control and strategic decisions.
