Elfershausen, 02.03.2023 – ZMI is now providing an interface between time recording and statutory health insurance (SHI) to digitally retrieve certificates of incapacity for work. The ZMI – eAU module has been tested and approved by the Information Technology Service Center of the Statutory Health Insurance (ITSG).
Since January 2023, the use of the electronic certificate of incapacity for work (eAU) has been mandatory for employers. The eAU is issued to employees who are unable to work by their attending physician participating in the eAU procedure. The eAU replaces the previous paper certificate and is transmitted digitally by the doctor to the responsible health insurance fund or the GKV server. Sick employees then report sick to their employer company so that it can send an eAU request to the GKV server.
“With our new ZMI – eAU solution, our users in HR departments are able to digitally query the statutory health insurance provider about the incapacity to work of their employees with statutory health insurance directly from the digital time recording system. As the employees’ HR master data is already available in the time recording system anyway, there is no need for time-consuming double entry,” explains Steffen Berger, Managing Partner of ZMI GmbH.
Particularly if payroll accounting is outsourced to an external body, such as a tax office, the sickness notification process with connected eAU query is much leaner and possible without media disruptions. The days of absence in the payroll period can then be transferred to the payroll accounting software (such as DATEV) via a digital interface, together with other gross wage data from the digital time recording system.
